Brisbane New Voices III

I’m really thrilled to be able to finally announce that a collection of my poetry will be published in the next volume of Brisbane New Voices.

I’ll be sharing the book with fellow poet Carmen Keates. Both of us were on hand to read a short set at last night’s Back Room gig at Confit Bistro, and I’m now really looking forward to working through the process of publication. Most of the pieces will be drawn from my recent manuscript “The Lost Art of Penning You a Love Note” More info as it comes to hand will be blogged about here!

Last night’s event was fantastic with amazing sets from Brett Dionysius and Pascalle Burton, and all the while some brilliant art pieces were being created by the awesome Tricia Reust. Highly recommend this event and hope that it returns for more in 2012.

The Back Room at Confit – 28 September

One to pencil in the diary – the Back Room at Confit Bistro in the Valley will be filled with words and voices on Wednesday 28 September with a cracking gig featuring wonderful Ippy poet Brett Dionysius and also Pascalle Burton.

1st prize 2011 USQ Poetry Competition

I am excited to share that my poem ‘Awakening’ has won the 2011 USQ Poetry Competition. This is the second consecutive year that my poetry has won this competition. As I couldn’t be there for the presentation a recording was made of me reading my poem and from all accounts this worked wonderfully. I will post details soon when they are available on the site.

2011 SpeedPoets Open Mic Champion!

Oh yes you have read correctly… the girl who was too nervous to read in front of an audience 12 months ago has just won the SpeedPoets open mic championships! I am still a little shocked but very very pleased!
