While I was in New York recently, I had the great experience of joining other New York poets and artists and performing at the renowned Nuyorican in the East Village. I was accompanied by fellow Brisbane poet Chris Lynch who happened to be in New York at the same time undertaking research. We each read two poems to a very supportive audience of poetry lovers, and also enjoyed sitting back and hearing the diversity of the other readers and singer songwriters who performed.
