2018 in review

While 2018 was a year largely devoted to the finalisation of my 4th collection Tourniquet, which launched in October, my writing was also published in a number of journals and anthologies throughout the year. My thanks for the editors and judges for their consideration of my work and the subsequent publication.

Here’s a quick wrap of the year in print:

Tourniquet (Walleah Press) – launched October 2018, Brisbane

“The Mouth of the Spider” – Long-listed for the 2018 University of Canberra Vice-Chancellor’s Award, and published in the anthology ‘Signs’

“Wattlebird Pie” – published in Island magazine, issue 152

“Pink” – published in Australian Poetry Anthology, July 2018

“Mathinna” – Highly Commended in the Tom Collins Poetry Prize

“Fernvale Road Ghosts” – Third Prize winner, 2018 Ipswich Poetry Feast

I was also able to perform my poems at the final Saturdays event for 2018 – a fabulous local event connecting Brisbane poets for readings, open mic and cold beverages.

Since the launch of Tourniquet, I’ve been able to turn my attention to the development of some new material, including a long-form verse narrative piece and many other poems that have been waiting patiently for their turn!

Happy New Year, everyone.
