upcoming poems in print

I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve submitted internationally, as I tend to focus on the domestic scene…perhaps that’s because my writing seems to have so many cultural references that I always feel as though it might not resonate as deeply or well in another market. In any case, my poem ‘Silky Oak’ was this week selected as a finalist in the Stephen DiBiase Poetry Content for 2021. This contest is based out of New York, USA and has been running annually since 2015. This year, of the some 900 submissions received, half of those were international. All the poems will be published soon on the website and when they are up, I’ll post a link.

UPDATED: Here’s the direct link to the DiBiase site. Unfortunately the formatting is lost here, but no biggie.

Also this week I learned that my poem ‘Moths’ has been accepted for Cordite Poetry Journal for the No Theme 10 issue. My thanks to John Kinsella and Jeanine Leane for selecting my work. It is always a great honour to be published in Cordite. Again, once the issue publishes, I’ll post a link to the poem here.

In terms of manuscript news – a final draft is mostly completed and due to Calanthe Press by the end of this month so that the editorial process can begin. I’m very much looking forward to working with the Calanthe team on this book, which will be my 5th [and my second locally (Queensland) published collection].
